1. Leverage Pinterest to Drive SEO Traffic to Your Affiliate Site
Ranking an affiliate site on Pinterest is easier than ranking on Google.
Yet many of the affiliate marketing courses that teach how to build an affiliate website focus on Google SEO as the holy grail traffic source to attain.
Ranking your site high on Google is definitely valuable, but it’s not the easiest thing to do.
Despite what all the marketing hype might suggest, getting your site to the first page of Google will take much longer than you think.
It took me two years to get my site ranking on Google, but only a few months to rank my content on Pinterest. That’s a huge time difference that could be spent making more money.
Here’s why ranking your blog on Pinterest is easier:
- Keyword Saturation: Google is saturated with content, which makes it tough to rank for those highly competitive money-making keywords. Pinterest, on the other hand, is still competitive but offers more opportunities for niche-specific targeting with less keyword competition.
- Google AI Takeover: You might have noticed that Google’s AI Overview is now dominating the top spot in search results. This shift is pushing small publisher content further down, making it harder for people to discover your material. Pinterest is a more level playing field.
- Algorithm Simplicity: Pinterest’s algorithm is generally simpler and more transparent than Google’s. It focuses heavily on user engagement metrics like saves, clicks, and shares, making it easier to optimize content for these factors.
- Viral Potential: Content on Pinterest can go viral more easily than on Google. Pins can continue to gain traction over time as they are saved and shared by users, leading to sustained traffic growth.
P.S. – Now this is not to say you should disregard Google SEO best practices, but you should consider other traffic avenues as well.

2. Don’t Rely on One Affiliate Program
Don’t risk losing all or most of your affiliate income by relying heavily on a single affiliate program. Diversify your efforts to protect your earnings.
Many beginner affiliate marketers learn this lesson the hard way, which is unfortunate. But the one thing you never want to do is give one affiliate program so much power over you and your money.
A while back, the Ibotta affiliate program I was promoting shut down.
I was earning $2 for each new account registered on the app, regardless of whether the person used it or not.
The pay per lead program was awesome and the small commissions added up to hundreds of dollars in commissions per month.
When the money was pouring in, I could have focused exclusively on promoting the affiliate program to increase my commissions, but that would have left me in a tough spot later on.
Fortunately, the Ibotta referral program is still going strong so it was easy enough for me to switch out my links.
This outcome ended well as I’ve now earned over $17,636 in Ibotta referral and bonus income. But this will not always be the case.
My best affiliate marketing tip is to always sign up for multiple affiliate programs to diversify your risk and income.
3. Promote Recurring Affiliate Programs
If you haven’t started doing this in your affiliate marketing business yet, I strongly encourage you to start now.
Incorporate recurring affiliate programs into your product mix.
It’s the best way to establish a stable monthly income and protect yourself from unexpected traffic losses due to algorithm changes.
Just imagine one day you lose your TikTok traffic or a Google core update wipes out your website traffic.
(It happens more often than you think!)
That could be devastating.

4. Prioritize Conversion Rates Over Commission Rates
I wish I would have known that the conversion rate of the affiliate product is way more important than the actual commission rate itself.
Now at some point along the way, you may have decided to promote an affiliate product based solely on the commission rate.
It makes sense.
Who wouldn’t want to promote an affiliate product where you can earn $200 per sale versus an affiliate product that earns you $20 a sale.
That’s what I thought until I started seeing the difference in my affiliate paychecks when I made this one small change.
Many beginner affiliate marketers overlook the importance of whether an affiliate product will actually convert into a sale.
If you’re not careful, you can find yourself promoting a product that will earn you very little money compared to the effort you put in.
For instance, a product that pays $200 per sale but converts at only 1% will earn you $2,000 per 1,000 visitors.
On the other hand, a product that pays $20 per sale and converts at 12% will earn you $2,400 per 1,000 visitors.
Eye-opening right?
Now just imagine you have an affiliate website getting thousands of visitors per month. Those numbers extrapolated are HUGE!
You want to make sure you’re promoting the best offers with the highest conversion rates that will make you the most amount of money.
That’s how small affiliate sites, like the one you’re reading, can earn 5-figures per month in affiliate commissions.

5. Use Copywriting Techniques to Sell More
Leverage the power of words to double your affiliate sales with a technique called sales copywriting.
Copywriting involves using persuasive language to gently encourage your prospects to take a desired action, such as opting into a lead magnet or purchasing a product.
When used ethically, this form of persuasion can significantly increase your affiliate sales without the need for increased traffic to your offers.
When done right, copywriting can make you rich.

The debate between selling high-ticket affiliate offers and low-ticket offers is a hot topic.
Everyone has their own take on which is better.
High-ticket items can bring in substantial commissions, but they require a more refined approach to sell, like creating a webinar funnel or involving your time.
Low-ticket items, on the other hand, sell with less effort but need higher volume to generate significant income.
Having tried both methods, I can tell you that either approach can get you the same (or similar) results.
You can have a $50k per month affiliate marketing business promoting either low-ticket or high ticket offers.
It all comes down to branding and leveraging the right strategy for your chosen market and audience.
For example, one low-ticket offer I promote, Fetch, pays me between $1 and $5 per referral.
After one of my videos went semi-viral, I earned $1,800 in a single month!
The great thing is that I replicated these results with multiple low-ticket offers.
You can make substantial money promoting either high-ticket or low-ticket items, as long as you have a solid strategy in place.
7. Emulate Top Performing Affiliate Marketers
This affiliate marketing tip might seem obvious, but you should emulate top performing affiliate marketers with proven results.
Study their strategies, see how they engage with their audience, and take note of the tools and platforms they use.
For instance, if a successful marketer swears by a particular video creation framework for growing their email list, give it a shot yourself.
Pay attention to their content creation methods, whether it’s blogging, video marketing, or social media posts, and see what clicks with their audience.
Some affiliate marketers share detailed case studies, such as the guys at Authority Hacker.
These things can help you pick up some great tips on optimizing your affiliate marketing strategy and boosting conversion rates.
Don’t just copy their tactics.
Adapt them to fit your own style and audience.
Emulating successful marketers can really speed up your growth and help you dodge common mistakes.
Just remember to stay consistent and keep refining your approach based on what you learn from these pros.
Conclusion: My Best Affiliate Marketing Tip
It’s perfectly fine to start over again in your affiliate marketing business and try a different strategy that aligns with your lifestyle AND makes you money.
I did this and I can tell you it was the best decision I made in my business.
When I first started affiliate marketing, I was doing ‘active’ high ticket affiliate sales, promoting programs such as Legendary Marketer.
This often meant long hours actively fielding Facebook DM requests and spending time doing group coaching and individual coaching.
While I did earn a lot of money in affiliate commissions and in personal sales, it was taxing on me.
After a year and a half, I dropped active high ticket sales for a more passive approach with an affiliate website.
This model aligns better with wanting to spend more time with my family and friends, and less time managing my business and all its moving parts.
Of course, you could always outsource lots of things in a high ticket affiliate marketing business, but it’s not the same as building a relatively ‘faceless’ affiliate website that requires less of your presence.
So once again, my best affiliate marketing tip is not to be afraid to start over! It’s your business, and you should build it exactly the way you want.
